Join us for a series of free, family-friendly nature sessions exploring the wildlife of Arnos Vale. Through stories, games, and hands-on activities, we’ll discover the plants, animals, and habitats that make this site so special.

Each week features a different nature theme, with activities suitable for children aged 4+ and their families. Free activity, must be booked in advance.

An opportunity for young people aged 13–17 to develop new skills while learning about conservation and restoration work at Arnos Vale Cemetery.

Across a series of short, practical sessions, participants will take part in small projects that support the ongoing care and development of the site. Activities may include using tools and techniques for site management, identifying local wildlife, and exploring the wider world of conservation volunteering at Arnos Vale.
We encourage booking a full block of sessions where possible, allowing young people to build friendships, develop confidence, and see projects through from start to finish. Free activity, must be booked in advance.

Magic Wand Making |Tuesday 28 July 1.30pm, 2.15pm & 3pm
Make a magic wand and create woodland potions using natural materials found at Arnos Vale. Tickets £8 per child. Must be booked in advance. Suitable for children aged 4+

Bugging Out – Free trail | Sunday 2 August – Sunday 9 August
Pop-in to the shop at the East Lodge and borrow a free bug hunting kit, then head out and discover the hidden world of insects living around Arnos Vale. Free, donations welcome.

Lovely leaves hammer printing workshop | Tuesday 11 August 1.30pm, 2.15pm & 3pm.
Create a printed leaf flag using a child-friendly hammer and the Japanese Hapa Zome technique. Suitable for children aged 4+. Tickets cost £8 per child.

Create your own wildflower garden | Saturday 15 August 1.30pm & 2.30pm.
Find out about the importance of native plants and pollinators and how you can create your own wild areas! Suitable for children aged 4+. Tickets cost £8 per child.

Fire lighting workshop | Tuesday 18 August 1.30pm-3pm.
Have a go at making a fire and toasting some s’mores. Tickets cost £15 per child. Suitable for children aged 6+.

Come and have a go using a simple tool to whittle a critter to take home.  Tickets cost £15 per child. Suitable for children aged 7+.

Let your kids unleash their creativity as they learn how to build a simple den using natural and recycled materials. Tickets cost £15 per child. Suitable for children aged 5+.

Go on a bug hunt, discover woodland critters, and make your own bug hotel to take home. Suitable for children aged 4+. Tickets cost £8 per child.

Discover the amazing slow worm and join a special hunt to discover this beautiful invertebrate in the habitats. Tickets cost £8 per child. Suitable for children aged 5-15 years.

Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust is a UK registered charity; it is a place of heritage, tranquility, stories, respect and wildlife. More than 300,000 people are buried or remembered here, from much-loved members of ordinary Bristol families to those who changed their world or sacrificed their lives in war.

Arnos Vale was established as a Victorian garden cemetery in 1839. Today, it is run by a charity fully committed to protecting and caring for it as place of love, community, and remembrance.

Often described by visitors as serene and peaceful, Arnos Vale is a beautiful natural landscape, and a welcoming location that encourages people to celebrate life and remember those who’ve passed.

Vehicle gates, Bath Road are open 9am-5pm. Pedestrian gates remain open
