Weekly woodland sessions in Troopers Hill Woods
Recoupe is a regenerative ecological project bringing new life to Troopers Hill Woods. Through traditional woodland management and sensitive conservation, weβre creating a thriving, diverse working woodland that supports both people and wildlife.
Each week, volunteers use hand tools and time-honoured practices β such as coppicing, charcoal burning, and hedge laying β to care for the land and produce useful local products like beanpoles, pea sticks, charcoal, and craft materials. Every part of the tree is valued, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Alongside this, we work to restore habitats by planting trees, building dead hedges, creating glades and clearings, and nurturing the health of existing woodland. These efforts help increase biodiversity, support a wide range of wildlife, and build a healthier ecosystem for the future.
Sessions also include moments of nature connection and seasonal awareness, offering time to pause, reflect, and grow a deeper relationship with the land.
